It depends on the technology that it features. Current most phones equipped with gadgets that one could not think of a couple of years back. If you plan to buy a phone, my advise is wait for let say a few week. Most phone prices drop by week, as their compatitor rise with a new technology. When you think its the right time then buy it. The cell phone manufacturers need to pay off the cost of designing and developing the new phones that seem to constantly come out and impress the public, both in style and utility. The cost of paying designers and engineers to come up with these phones, and the folks who test them, is enormous.

It seems that way but you can find some good deals too. I've seen where you get a $250 phone with all the bells and whistles for free and on top of that get $50 extra in mail ($100 instant+ $150 instant pays for phone than get a $50 mail in rebate) this all came with the 39.99 a month plan. They do not have to be.
If you go to buy a cell phone, not a status-symbol, you can get a phone that is JUST a phone for around $35.00. People do not want that, and the phone companies LOVE IT. They want phones/gps/stereos/computers/internet/cameras, etc, etc.and the prices are FREAKING EXPENSIVE.
Do you think everytime you download a song on your phone, it is free?

I wonder the same thing... anything from $200 - $500 is not worth getting way to much for a sell phone!

Because they are adding a lot of features to them whiuch the average person doesn't need or want, like internet capability and access.

yah good question, its because they can charge that much people will pay 50 bucks a month, i dont but if people pay people sell it, someone should make a cheaper plan, dont buy sprint get a cingular there pretty cheap and also good reception sprint realy sucks

yes!.. nice question! .. i agree with you!! 100%.... even they ont even give much features or REALIABLE FEATURES in ONE MOBILE...every cell fone got sorta problum in it...some arnt good in keypads some arnt good in voice quality and also there isnt any special feature and new features in new cells most of the fones are having same things esp. NOKIA sysmbians and S.E. walkman series, but still their prices are freaKING HIGH! DUH!... these compines are just going to their own profits, still failed to give any relief or any sorta good and worthy thing to a consumer... !! they are LOZERS!!!! arnt they!! !??!
