The unit is on Simple Interest, and the question is asking to

calculate the simple interest in each situation:

a.) $4250 invested at 6%/a for 38 months.

b.) $5000 borrowed at 5.75%/a for 45 weeks.

The interest in both of these questions is $4520 and $5000

respectively. The rate is 6%- 0.06% and 5.75% - 0.0575%

respectively. The time is 38 months and 45 weeks respectively.

The formula is I = Prt. My question is how do you change months

and weeks into years because time has to be in years. I need

urgent help! Someone please come to my rescue!!!

well first off, a year has 12 months or 52 weeks. second, the principle amounts are $4250 and $5000, you are being asked to calculate the interest. I'm not familiar with your formula so maybe if you tell us what each variable stands for we could help more.

well there's 52 weeks in a year and 12 months so 38 months would be 3 years and 2 months, and 45 weeks is 7 weeks short of 1 year.

To convert month into years divide number of months by 12 since there are 12 months in a year.
To convert weeks into years divide number of weeks by 52 since there are 52 weeks in a year.
Also, You have stated the problem incorrectly because $4520 and $5000 are not interest they are principles or otherwise known as starting amount
