India was beat by Mao in 1960s because of Gandhi's foollish non-violent disobedience. lol

I'll tell you about Gandhi. India was once ruled by Great Britain. Many Indians felt they were being treated unfairly by Great Britain due to taxes and therefore desired independence. Gandhi led peaceful, nonviolent protests which eventually led India to become independent. So Gandhi's influence was great - he led them to become independent.
You would have to research more about some of the specifics on the protests (like the Salt March) to write a complete paper. What I am offering you is a start. You need to take this information and build on it.

Gandhi did very little for India and it's independence even though he his usually given alot of credit. He did a little but he was not sole responsible for independence of India.
