How have hippies affected society in a positive way?

For all of the mindbending and numbing practices promoted by young people in the 60's the hippies did contribute greatly philosopically and financially to current society. Besides for being involved in the technology revolution (read the history of Microsoft) as they matured, they founded and offered an entire new range of holistically oriented health products. Echinacea, for example, a fairly well known herb presently used to help with colds, probably grew in popularity due to the relaxation of the mindset that alternatives to over the counter medicines were bad or dangerous. Current massage and relaxation techniques were also an outgrowth of hippie sensibility. Environmental concern and the respect for alternative energy sources are also part of the hippie heritage.

Hi, yes we surely did and do, we broke all the rules of society, and we opened a new world of opertunity, and simultaniously we distroyed all the good rules of proper living, that held the fabric of social behavior together, we are the most radical force on earth among boys and girls. but thank G-d that we lived to tell the tale, some of us that is, we like you need help to understand our purpuse, perhaps we will some day see the power of doing what is right, more than the power of wrong.

i assume they make you think of there is better than one thank you to look at something. in my view i'm no longer able to stand them, nevertheless. i think of they look for the thank you to sponge off the society they profess to hate.

If you are not into drugs, I don't believe hippies had any positive effects on our society. If you are into drugs, you probably feel that this was a positive.
