During the assigning-of-stories session during class at my school's newspaper, somewhere in the process, I got stuck with the vague and terribly general subject of "shoes".
Here are my questions to you:
What shoe styles are "in" right now?
[I think peep-toe shoes.]
Which are out?
[I think Crocs, and Uggs.]
Which were always in?
[I think Nike's Air Force, black high heels, and Chuck Taylors.]
I'm no expert fashionista; that's why I need your input.
Thanks.
P. S. Guys, please don't feel shunned by this question! It applies to both genders, and I value your input. I encourage you to put in your two cents.

You're exactly right....peep toes are in. Don't forget stilettos - they're still hot. Anything too clunky or chunky is out...like crocs and uggs. Flat boots are in for winter but the big furry boots are out. I don't know about chuck taylors....I think they're only in for a certain crowd (not that theres anything wrong with that, but they're not universally "in"). Black high heels and red high heels are always in....flip flops have consistantly been popular amoung nearly all demographics and cultures. Good luck with your article!

Crocs were never in. Uggs are soooo 2004. No one should be wearing ugss anymore unless they live in Australia.
Peep toes are in but not always suitable for every day. Depends on what you are wearing and wher you are going.
Nike Air Force and Chuck Taylors are classics as well as a black high heel.
Round toes shoes and boots are in right now. They go with pretty much everthing.

Hey i work at Nine West.
And def the pep toe is huge.
Also patent leather.
And there is alot of the black lace over the tan.
Another big shoe is the wedge.
Flats are everywhere from ballet style to leather pointed toe ones.
And shoes that are out.. UGGS put the ug in uglyy! Ladies stop wearing em.. u look silly and men think so too.
Crocs.. wow those arent shoes they are plastic swiss cheese for your feet.. idc how comfortable they are u look rediculous.
And a basic pump will never go out of style. But the round toe is coming back
Hope that helped!!! :)

The top 4 shoes of this season are:
Marc Jacobs- The slingback
Christian Louboutin- The bruges pump
Chloe Wooden- platform wedge
Manolo Blahnik- Over the knee boot
The shoes that are out are anything sloppy with a 90's heel (chunky) or cheap, fake leather.

for me, i like shoes that are either ballet flats in fun colors or peep toe heels/flats. ankle boots are in too! i love vans as well because they are very comfortable and have a lot of colors/styles. crocs and uggs are definately out, and i dont think high boots are in anymore...chuck taylors are starting to get played out but they're classics.

IN: Peep-toe heels are cute. Fashionable yet casual yet sophisticated flats...almost out, but still hanging in there. Also, ankle boots are in right now.
OUT: Definitly Crocs. Why were those hideous plastic things ever even in? Uggs are pretty much out, or anything else with sheep fur and suede or whatever the hell that is. Oh, and you're wrong about Chuck Taylors...OUT. Also, pointy-toed shoes...out.
CLASSICS: Black heels are always fashionable. Keds are coming back with cute styles, so the classic shoe is becoming fashionable, therefore in.

In: ballet slippers (though I don't know for how much longer)
platform peep toes are very cute (think leopard print)
Out: Definatly crocs
Always In: classic black slingback shoes with a pointy toe. I have noticed that pointy toes seem to be a new "classic" (think Monolo) I have prefered to wear square-ish shoes and now I feel like I am an 'out'

I think that high top converse are in(as you said, they were always in which is true), vans(slip on ones) they have tons of different patterns and designs, skate shoes(etnies, dc's, vans, etc.), crocs are still in(at least where I live they are)
For what's out, I'm not so sure really.
I'm not a fashion expert either.

Flats (preferabbly ballerina flats, like Keds) and ankle boots are pretty "in" right now.
Clogs and Uggs are definitely out. And I hope that they never come back.
Shiny, pointy toe high-heeled pumps are always in. They're just classic. (Ex: http://www.shoecentury.com/atomic18red.jpg) And I agree, so are Chuck Taylor Converses.
