a generalization is an answer that can be used for a large number of questions.

it is an answer that is generally right, from the perspective of the person using the generalization

to make one, find something that several questions have in common. then that thing they have in common is the base of your generalization

whenever things go wrong, i blame it on left handed people - i make a generaliztion that it was probably some left handed person's fault [you know how they are..]

When you make a generalization, you are making a broad statement. So, for example, if you asked to make a generalization about a story, you are being asked to tell what it is basically about in terms of the message or moral. The details of who, what when where and why would support your generalization.

take a complex discription and boil down to 25 words or less, and still make sense in the original context.
