With the watch only running while the ball is in play. I think its something like 3-4 minutes but do not remember. Anyone have this info?

120 plays * 3 seconds? on average sounds right to me, i dont know.

I read somewhere a few years ago that out of the 60 minutes on the clock the average on field action is 12 1/2 minutes

It depends on the style of offense each team plays and how they execute that style.

If you have 2 teams that both run a no huddle offense and both score very quickly, there is going to be a lot of time where they play.

Now if you have the Cowboys playing the Steelers and both defenses suck, most of the time is going to be spent watching them huddle.

Either way, 4 minutes is WAAAYYYY too low.
