There are two choices:
If it is a 12 hour clock (where 7 am and 7 pm look the same), then you need to divide 12 hours by 3 minutes.

If it is a 24 hour clock, then you need to divide 24 hours by 3 minutes.

Now to divide you need everything in the same units, so let's convert 12 hours to minutes.

12 x 60 = 720 minutes.

So in the first case, it will be correct after 720 / 3 hours or 240 hours. This would be 10 days, exactly.

It would be correct on January 11 at midnight.

(If it is a 24 hour clock, the answer is doubled (20 days) or January 21 at midnight).

The clock gains 3 minutes every hour.
For 12 hours or 720 minutes it will take 720/3 or 240 hours or 10 days
So after full 10 days after midnight of January 1 or at midnight of January 11 it will show corrct time.
However if the clock shows AM/PM alongwith the time,it will take 20 days and at the midnight of January 21 it would show right time again

I assume AM and PM don't matter. So once it gains 12 hours, it shows the correct time again.

Let

x = number of hours until the clock shows the correct time again

(63/60)x = x + 12
(3/60)x = 12
(1/20)x = 12
x = 12*20 = 240 hours = 10 days

The next time the clock will be correct is midnite on January 11.

This is a ticky question.

Let's see if I can work it out.

The clock gains 3 minutes every hour.

There are 60 minutes in one hour.

So 60 divided by 3 = 20.

Here 20 represents 60...TWENTY TIMES.

We start January 1 at midnight and count 20 hours more.

12am to 12pm = 12 hours.

We need 8 more hours.

So, 12 hours + 8 hours = 20 hours = 8pm.

I think the answer is 8pm a few days later.
