My female hamster was in heat on Tuesday, so I tried putting them together on Saturday (4 days later, I wasn't ready to breed on Tuesday) well, he was too busy licking her and by the time he wanted to mount, she was too frustrated and attacked him.

I tried again on Sunday and again today, in hopes that maybe since it was winter, her cycle was messed up. But apparently, she isn't in heat now (or maybe wasnt even in heat on Saturday?). They just wont breed.

Is there anything I can do? Is this normal in the winter?

Thanks!

The reason I do not keep them together is because they are Syrians and they should be kept seperate as they are territorial.

Is there a reason you don't keep them together all the time? My guinea pigs (female and male) were always together and formed a relationship. I think they have to be together as a pair to mate-just putting them together when the female is in heat doesn't work. Sometimes too they just aren't compatible. Good luck next time.

do no longer breed, you do no longer comprehend the difficulty-unfastened suggestions you are able to desire to reproduce responsibly. detect a reputible breeder on your section to tutor you and supply you a breeders code of ethics.

yeah its normal, parrotkeets are the same way, too. you just have to give them time, but rumor has it is that during the spring their heat is on again!

You should artificially inseminate. Consult your nearest veterinarian for the details, it's easier than you think.
