The Pilgrims, or Separatists, wanted to break completely with the Church of England because they felt it had retained too many vestiges of Roman Catholicism. The Puritans, on the other hand, merely wanted to 'purify' the Church of England by getting rid of what they felt to be practices that were too close to those of the Catholic Church.

No. The Pilgrims have been Puritans (a minimum of maximum of them have been), yet not all Puritans have been "Pilgrims". The Pilgrims left England to flee religious persecution with the aid of the English protestants (Anglicans).

Not really, www.history.com The pilgrim was basically a settler that pioneered his way here into new territory, Puritans were some of the settlers as well. They had similiar laws but the Puritan name should explain them from the get go. They called themselves Pure, and to verbalize they made it group caled Puritans, like Hawaiians. The Christian related beliefs were so strong they were hideous with their interpretation. They were very superstitious at times and that was ridiculous, the witch burning thing, the scarlet letter taped on a woman's chest to show she had affair to be in league with Lucifer, and an adulterer.

The pilgrims are considered to be the first ones to settle the Mayflower colony.
The puritans are the ones that came after and added to their settlements and imposed their strict religious beliefs on those that lived among them, much like the Taliban did.

The Pilgrims, from what I remember, were also known as
Separatists. They did not agree with the Anglican Church on several issues, and so separated themselves entirely from it. the Purtians, on the other hand, believed that they could purify the Anglican Church from its corrupt state by continuing to go there to worship God.
