I will be 18 this summer and I dont want to be part of another lost generation. I have dreams, and being forced into the military isnt one of them.

Is it or can it come back? and when?

How does it work, by age, ext?

Its not "on the table" and its not "coming back".

The army, for example, exceeded both its recruitment and retention goals for 2006. (see citation, below.)

The army does not want OR need the kinds of recruits that the draft would bring. Overweight, out-of-shape, and people who do not Want to be there.

There is a registration process in place for the very slim chance that events would unfold that would reguire many more soliders in a hurry. Short of an all-out war with a billion strong Chinese army, any talk of reinstating the draft is just a scare tactic trying to increase negative feelings about the war in Iraq.

Every 18 year old must sign up for the draft. It is not in effect now, nor is it going to be anytime soon... But you still need to sign up Soldier!

No talk. It's on the table. Check the net on how they did it for Viet Nam.
