Let's start with the easier one.

If it travels 3 ft each rotation, and a mile is 5,280, then you need to divide.

5,280 / 3 = 1,760 revolutions.

For the harder one, you need to convert 3 ft 3 3/8 in into a single unit (feet), then do the division like before.

3/8 of an inch is 0.375.
3 3/8 of an inch is 3.375
And if you divide by 12 you get the number of feet:
3.375 / 12 = 0.28125 feet.

So 3 ft. 3 3/8 in. = 3.28125 feet.

If you take 5,280 feet (in a mile) divided by 3.28125 feet (per revolution) you get:

1,609.14 revolutions.

We know that 1 mile=5280 ft.
3 ft.3 3/8in =3ft 27/8in=3 27/(8X12) ft=3 9/32 or105/32 ft.
So in the first case it would rotate 5280/(105/32)
=5280X32/105=1609 times
In the second case it would be 5280/3 or 1760 times
