I just reformatted my friends Dell Computer. Now when I boot up, it boots up in the lowest resolution. I can not change this. When I got to display, advanced, the button for properties is grayed out. It also says default monitor, so I think that the driver for this particular monitor was not on the install cd. I downloaded the drive for this monitor e772c but I don't know where to put it in the computer. And because the properties button is grayed out, I can't install from there. I also do not see monitor listed at all under Device manager, so I can't install from there. Any ideas would be appreaciated.
thanks in advance for your help

U WILL NOT FIND THE NAME OF THE MONITOR IN THE DRIVE MANAGER,U WILL ONLY FIND PLUG AND PLAY MONITOR UNDER MONITORS.THE NAME WILL BE SHOWN FOR HARDWARES THAT NEEDS INSTALLATION FROM THE CD OR SELF INSTALLED LIKE DVD/CD ROM DRIVES.
if u didnt fiind this, try the 'add new hardware" in the control panel then u should search for the hardware connected to the PC but not installed, but i think that all monitors don't need installation so it is almost the video card.search for the display adapters in the device manager and if there is a "yellow !" mark or "yellow ?" mark beside the name of the video card then it is not correctly installed. all what u need is to insert the CD and the installation wizard will launch automatically.then continue installation.

HOPE THIS WORKS

I think you are off by just a bit - it sounds not like the monitor driver but rather the video adapter driver...

I am guessing that one of the generic Windows dirvers is installed - VGA or SVGA.

Try to track down the latest driver for the correct video card.
