Well that's not just men, that's human nature, everyone is sweet when they want something. Men, have a bigger ego than women, and like people in general, they are creatures of habit and follow by example. If all they see is their father treating their mother badly, most likely they will go one of two ways: Treat their wives good or treat their wives bad. But no person deserves that type of treatment. WHOEVER is in a situation like this, then they need to get out. My father sometimes treats my mom like that, he has his moments. Sometimes I treat my sisters and people I love like that, because my attitude isn't always ideal. Whoever it is, all you could do is pray for those people. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, keep that in mind and you'll never go wrong with how to treat people. Just don't go over board, no one can be perfect.

They have never grown up. This is probably how they got things from their mother when they were growing up-by sulking, pouting, temper tantrums. They have never learned any other way to show their emotions and get what they want-so they stick with what worked for them in childhood. Once they get their way with their childish antics they are happy-just like a kid would be. And-as long as these antics work, they will continue to do them. They are not going to change as long as someone puts up with it. The controlling part has to do with insecurities that they have about themselves. If someone truly loves you, then they should encourage you to do things that make you happy, not make you feel guilty or bad.

hmmm...the key word you used here was men...I think the word man (men) needs to be earned just like the word woman. What you have here is a case of a child throwing a temper tantrum. I treat people the age they act not the age they are. Don't let him get away with this kind of behavior. Set up consequences for his actions. That is completely ridiculous.

Sounds like a moody person. I can't stand that. But it's not only men who are controlling. Sorry, but one of the worst controllers I know is a woman. Don't give in to him.

Some men are controlling cause it makes them feel like they are macho. Sounds to me like this one needs to grow up a little. If he wants to have a fitt, let him. Give him the silent treatment.

Get rid of him! Just got out of a relationship very similar. Lied like ya wouldn't believe about everything. He slept until noon and just was a real bum. He never wanted to go to work, but he didn't mind if everyone else worked circles around him while he slept! Get rid of him! I am soo glad I got rid of the leach that was draining me.

because they might be bitter about themselves and their lives. Sounds very moody. I have a friend like that, he was not doing to well with $, work, driving to much, etc and he was not very friendly to be around, but recently things started to come up, new job, more $, a happy relationship with his son and wife, and he was a joy to be around. I think men and women need to communicate more efficeintly, be understanding, patient, and supportive when times are hard.

Because he or she feels insufficient. They cannot be equal to their counterpart, they have to feel as if there this always someone beneath them. I just divorced one like this and after a year of therapy I have learned that unless they get help the situation will only escelate. It can (and often does) lead to emotional and physical abuse, which no one, man or woman should have to endure. I say if you or someone you know is going through this get help or leave them.
