...do you think really are Pink Floyd fans? Don't say you count out any teens, because I might just have to knock you over the head with a flying pig. You can't see me, but I can you...

I say about every 1/10 people are. Someone asked about the first Pink Floyd album, and only half of the people answered correctly- Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The others said Animals or Dark Side of the Moon. Not to mention, some of the "hardcore" fans that move to my school I'll ask about Meddle, Piper At The Gates of Dawn, Ummagumma, Saucerful of Secrets, ANYTHING but the golden four, and they'll all give me blank looks and laugh at me.

So... 10% says I. What do you think?

Yes, you can like their music and not be a hardcore fanatic. It's just the people that think that they're the biggest fans in the world and don't know a song past Another Brick 2 and Money.

And whoever challenged me down there on Several Furry Creatures, it's called Several Furry Creatures Gathered in a Cave Grooving With A Pict. On Works it is track #7, right after See Emily Play and before Free Four. Only Roger knows what the old Scot is saying. No one has a definite translation, really.

I'm a real pink floyd fan. ask me anything and i will tell you.

(oh, by the way, which one's pink?) lol

Roger Waters has a new tune: "Hello (I Love You)." No, not the Doors song.

The track will be featured on the soundtrack to a new movie, "The Last Mimzy," which is being screened at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. It's a science-fiction tale about two children who develop amazing powers after discovering a box of other-worldly toys, starring Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, and Michael Clarke Duncan. The soundtrack recording should be out around the same time.

In other Floyd-related news, David Gilmour just released a digital single with two versions of "Arnold Layne," the band's first single, one with Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright on vocals, and the other featuring David Bowie.

I'm more than a fan, I'm a tribute band performer.

I do secondary vocals in a tribute band for "Dark Side of the Moon". If they let me I'll be adding in a lot of cool effects and changes to the lyrics like before the guitar comes in in "Money" I'll yell out "You can't have any pudding!" from "Another Brick in the Wall pt 2". I was actually the lead singer for about a month doing "Breathe", "Time/Breathe(Reprise)", "Money", "Us and Them", "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse" before they said I have no "time" commitment and basically kicked me out of it all but now I'm still in it, they haven't gotten rid of me just yet.

I'll also admit their work prior to "Dark Side of the Moon" is excellent as well. "Piper At the Gates of Dawn" and "Ummagumma" have to be my favorite pre-'73 albums of theirs not to mention "The Division Bell" which is very under-rated.

If there were 3 other songs by Pink Floyd I could sing they'd have to be "Echoes", "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" and "Lucifer Sam".

lets face it ummagumma just plain out sucks all of meddles songs r good exept that jazz song um san tropez or someting like that, piper at the gates of dawn r good if u like phychedelic music (only early pink floyd is phychedelic the rest arnt) thers a reason why the wall darkside , wish , or animals r realy popular and its not cuz they r just there, there really good compared to the other ones (exept animals the other albums are of lower quality (thats why meddle didnt get "vinyled" )) so what if people rnt as hard core as u but tahts cuz u probaly rnt as hard core (ur missing all the extremely crappy and unpopular albums)

What about Atom Heart Mother. One of their best in my opinion.
here is a link to one of the songs on the album, Fat Old Sun.
http://myweb.cableone.net/rjoh2/fatoldsun.mp3
right click on the link and click save as to download the song. I'll remove the song in a day or two. I don't know how that guy above could have called Ummagumma crappy. No taste.

hard to say i guess, waht amkes a real fan? if you liek the music then youre a fan you dotn have to liek all their music or knwo all kinds of trivia about a group to like them. i think im a big floyd fan but ive never seent hem, never had the oppurtunity, both tiems they came to the area i was on duty for the army, so does taht not make me a fan? and i was too young to see zeppelin tho ive seen page and plant tour, another group i really like. i dotn have all PF albums but i haev most of them, i really like saucerful of secrets and more soundtrack and i also have and love all of syds solo stuff except the peel sessions which im trying to get

I take offense to this, because I like PF's music, but I'm not a hard core fan or anything. I fully admire and respect them, but just because I'm not a fanatic, can't I still be a fan?
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon....
