Actually the longest word known to the english language is: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Which is a 45-letter word supposed to refer to a lung disease contracted from the inhalation of volcanic ash. This was created to BE the longest word.

Then there's 'antidisestablishmentarianism' at 28 letters, meaning 'opposition to the disestablishment of the Church of England. Is actually considered the longest though because it actually has a MEANING and wasnt created to be the longest word.

Supercalafragalisticexpyalydocious, is long but has no meaning, which makes it NOT a word of the english dictonary.

Hope this helps!
