Romeo and Juliet is Modern English. Before Modern English was Middle English, the language of Chaucer and Malory and before Middle English was Old English, the language of the Venerable Bede. The boundary between Middle and Modern English is roughly the reign of Henry VIII. Malory was before that while Shakespeare was after that.

If you have difficulty understanding the written words of Romeo and Juliet, see a performance of the play. Zefirelli's film is excellent and even Luhrman sticks to the script. You will understand it better if you hear it rather than read it.

Not websites, but books--modern-language adaptations:

Romeo and Juliet / adapted by Peggy L. Anderson and Judith D. Anderson. -- Novato, Calif. : High Noon Books, 1999.

Romeo and Juliet / abridged and adapted by Emily Hutchinson. -- Upper Saddle River, N.J. : Globe Fearon, 1996.

Romeo & Juliet / Billy Aronson. -- New York : HarperCollins, 1996.

There are probably more. Check at your library.

The previous answer is excellent. Most people don't realize that Shakespeare IS written in modern English. Trust me, you wouldn't recognize or be able to pronounce a bit of true "old English."
