If this is some sort of school assignment don't listen to Jackson above.

FROM WEBSTER:
Patriot: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests

A patriot is someone who supports its country not questions it. Not that there is anything wrong with dissent but that does not make you a patriot. If you dissent against the government then you do not support its interests and therefore can not be a patriot. Not to say that necessarily makes you unAmerican but patriots love there country in whole not just certain aspects, like the right to dissent. It is in the interest of your country to support your elected leadership, if you don't you cannot call yourself a patriot. Again, there is nothing inherently wrong in this but I support my country and elected leaders whoever is in office because I love America just not all the people who live here, partisan politics never comes into the equation for the true patriot. Not to say I don't question some actions but I keep that to myself.

Always question your government; especially, when certain groups make it seem as if it is unpopular to question the government. That's the best time!
