I don't notice it during Clips' games. Is it just the light settings they have set for the Lakers at Staples?

because its like a performance play. where the players are like stage actors and you obviously shine the light on them and not the audience. thats why the lights are directed only to the floor. if the whole place is lit, then fans attention will divert elsewhere and not on the court.

"Instead of lighting the entire cavernous arena like an LAX runway, they have a new setup with the lights focused on, of all places, the court. The seating areas, where people traditionally go to see and be seen (emphasis on be seen), now are dim. Think dark alley. Think the new Lakers marketing campaign -- "Lights out." The new look was introduced Tuesday night when the Lakers and Phoenix Suns opened the 2006-07 NBA season. "The idea was to put the emphasis on the game," said Tim Harris, the Lakers senior vice president for business operations who is chief marketing officer for the team. "

Yes, it is just a light setting for Laker games.

There is a theme for Lakers going on this year (maybe to continue later). It's calle Lights Out. This is part of that theme.

I know the source below is from a Kobe Bryant website, but the Lights Out setting is a team thing. I belive they also have a canvas in the rafters that says "Lights Out" for Laker games.

I'm not sure but I think the Logo on the floor might have something to do with it. The Clippers logo is brighter, has more white...when they are home, that's the logo that's on centercourt. When the Lakers are home, they are Purple and Gold and I dont' think it's as bright. I have no scientific evidence to back it up and being in West Texas I dont' get to see too many of my beloved Laker games, but that's the only thing I can come up with that would make a difference. (I LOVED their comeback last night against the Mavs...thank goodness for Sirius Satellite Radio...I got to listen to it).

i could say the lakers have a pair of sixty 5 % possibility of triumphing the following day. recreation 4 took a super form of power out of the nuggets, so the Lakers gets out to a speedy start up and positioned it away early.

they have a lame lighting config that shines lights only in the court
they did this when they played at GWF in the 1970's.
also the allstar games do that.
don't worry
they lakers are lame and they suck
plus they think they are cool for doing this.
GO CLIPPERS

They changed the lighting to a "theatre" style this season.
