What would be proper dress attire for a high school freshman semi-formal dance? I assume around the same as for a bar/bat mitzvah. Also, at these kinds of dances, it is an unwritten rule that you come with a date? Thanks!

Tuxedos are not necessary obviously. You can wear a dark suit with a tie. Dresses, not prom gowns for women.

You can go stag but if you bring a date you are guaranteed a dancing partner.

For a male semi-formal means dress slacks and a dress shirt - oh and Ambercrombie..... that means both articles of clothing are PRESSED, shirt is TUCKED IN!! A jacket would also be appropriate - but no tie. As mentioned in another post unless you are with a stag group a date would be the way to go.

Yes, I think unless you go with your pals, you pretty much need a date to guarantee safety from wise cracks. Are you a boy or a girl. If you are a boy- I can't help ya much, maybe some dark suit pants and a nice shirt. Slick the hair, look ffaannccy. If you are a girl- buy a dress from Ralph Lauren or Juicy, or even BCBG, and you should be ok.
