Not in Texas. I am an independent so I don't vote in primaries and yet I have voted in every general election since I was 18.

Depends on the election laws in your state. Some states require voters to register with a party and to vote in the primary to be eligible to vote in the general, others do not.

No. In fact, if you are an independant, you are not allowed to vote in the primaries. You of course can vote in the general election with or without a party affliliation.

No, in fact, if you are registered Independent, in some states you don't have a primary to vote in. You just need to be registered, and to keep registered you need to vote at least every 4 years.

No you do not. You can vote in as many or as few elections as you choose.

Depending on where you live, though, you might have to register in advance of going to vote for the first time. So if you haven't voted before, check with your local elections board to see what the policies are.
