My father in law had cancer about 10 years ago. he is alright for now. But i am worried becuase he does all his follow up through the LA County Hospital. What are my health insurance alternatives. Can he get regular health insurance or do i have to go to a spealized insurer?

You can apply for a regular health insurance. If the rates
quoted are too high to bear or they reject his application
you can help him with the my simple card membership.
They will most likely not reject him for the benefits.

Keep checking around. Each company has different products. He will probably have to pay more but he can get insurance. Any illness over 5 years old should be insurable, unless the laws have changed within the last 6 months!

Are you trying to get insurance for him or yourself? For you, his cancer wouldn't matter, you're a different person. Now for him, alot of the carriers would consider him a risk and have higher premiums, he can get regular insurance but expect higher payments. If he has no insurance at all, he might be entitled to medicaid or low cost state insurance.
