I have been looking at replacing my carpet with something like a hardwood/pergo type flooring. What is a hardy type flooring that will with stand the dogs and cat ?

Pergo laminate flooring, or any decent quality laminate flooring will do great with having a dog or cat. It wears nicely, and if and when it gets messed up from the pet's claws, etc... all you gotta do is replace that one piece, and not have to go through a big long process of refinishing, as opposed to hardwood. My only advice on what to get is to go with a thicker product, as opposed to the thinner 5mm to 7mm varieties. Also look at its warranty, 20 years or longer will work best.

Not sure what you call ours (hubbie asleep or I'd ask him) but it works - some kind of laminated hardwood that the previous owner tried to say was EXpensive Swedish cedar or summat loike - see similar in B&Q type places - easy to clean hairs, pee, paw marks from cat and dog and lemon-chicken chinese remains pilfered from the bin and dragged across hardwood floor to nice Persian type rug in hall where dog feels he must eat all illicit foodstuffs.
