Virtual memory is when the OS uses your HDD as memory. Its much slower than real RAM, and its not a good idea to rely on virtual memory too much. If you go to "Control Panel", and system, it will tell you how much memory you have

To find your virtual memory (if you are running windows xp)

Click:

Start
Control Panel
System (you have to be in classic view)
Click the advanced tab
Then click settings under performance
Then click the advance tab
Then at the bottom you should see something about virtual memory.
