No, it is an elective war that was supposed to be phase one of a new American century where America dominates the world, politically, economically, and militarily. Of course, this was a baby-boomer Worst Generation neocon think tank pipe dream, so it was doomed to failure. It has, indeed, failed.

In a manner of speaking it is. But let me make a point clear, I have conservative views and support the war and even the President to a degree.
The war in Iraq is concentrating the focus of the Islamic fundamentalists over there, not here. The country is being flooded by foreigners looking to kill Americans, that is a fact.
In doing so they are not coming here, to US soil.

The Islamic fundamentalist are seeking to destroy the US and are open to using any means they can get their hands on.

If the US is to pull the troops out of Iraq, the nation will disintegrate into a civil war and the country will cease to exist. Then the fundamentalists will attack the US again. The US troops in Iraq are keeping the US safe, just not in a way that could be fit into a twenty second sound bite on the news.

call me one war that replaced into fought over faith. call me one king that ever lived a righteous existence. faith has been used as an excuse for wars, whether it replaced into under no circumstances the reason of any war. And if faith did not exist, they could in simple terms arise with yet another reason. in case you think of they massacred the Jews in medieval Europe simply by fact they have been Jews and not simply by fact there have been spoils to be gained with the aid of killing them, then how come the ostensibly Catholic king of France killed the Templars, who have been additionally Catholic? Why did the numerous sects of Christianity attempt to best buddy themselves with Muslim communities, like the Osmani Turks? Why did the Moors have Christian allies? Why did Rome invade Greece, even regardless of the incontrovertible fact that they very nearly had all the comparable Gods?

Personally I think that we are fighting this war because our president wants to bully and control everything. He wants to much power and i cant wait until his term is over so our country can begin to heal and recover from all of the damage he has done.

W wanted to be a "war president" like his daddy, but it didn't do anything but get his *** in a sling. That, and make all his Halliburton and oil buddies a ton of money.

Tough to answer. It could be for our very existence if we are perceived to be weak, and terrorists infiltrate in large numbers and attack simultaneously. The US could be crippled in a way it has never experienced before.
