Absolutely. It's called imagination and can be lots of fun. (People have made small fortunes writing books about their imaginery world.) When it gets out of control it's a psychosis. When it's completely out of control it's a unlimited hospital stay. Many people live at least in part in their imaginary world. Sometimes it's person preference to be there but often it's chemical imbalance and medication is required.

I think this is most common with people who are going through a lot of abuse or really bad times...
I've heard of it in cases of extreme abuse of children. They withdraw into their own minds as the abuse was happening and dream and imagine that they are somewhere else, somewhere much nicer.
I think this is also the reason why some people develop multiple personalities (though that is very rare and it has been debated if it is even possible to have a multiple personality).
Some individuals with schizophrenia are so pulled out of reality that they live by their fantasies in their own minds. Take my dad for example- he has schizophrenia and when you talk to him its like he's on a different planet. Thinks aliens are communicating with him because he himself is an alien (so he believes) and that he will go back home to his other planet someday... sounds like he created quite the mental world inside his mind to me!!!

Of course it is. Just as you live in this world, a person can live in his own world. After all, what you're living right now is your own perception of the world. What a person imagines he is living is his own perception of the world. To him, the "mental world inside" is the true world and what is outside might be the "dream world" whereas you see it the other way around.

in line with risk your question is extra approximately no remember if the understanding 'delusion' means a psychological ailment? There are diverse nuances to the understanding - for occasion, from the Oxford English Dictionary "something that deceives the concepts with a misunderstanding; a deception; a mounted fake opinion or perception in regards to purpose issues, esp. as a style of psychological derangement. " No talk approximately something being basic, purely objectivity. you will possibly desire to subsequently argue that the foundation for christianity, the bible, whilst confronted with purpose truths (like the impossibility of a international flood and the saving of each and all of the international's animal species in one boat), is crammed with faleshoods and deludes its readers. however the factor is that a delusion would not might desire to be a psychological ailment; it is an severe and psychiatric definition of the understanding.

I know of someone that can't seperate reality from the gaming world..This person's character in the gaming world is rich and high up that ranks, and is a force to be reckond with.
But wen he comes back to reality (the real world)..He still thinks he is that character in the gaming world....But in real life he is poor and useless...

I think it is true. People usually do this to make their lives the way that they would like to see it in reality. They usually create dream worlds where everything goes the way that they dream it should be.

there are certain psychological conditions that take people out of reality, where they cannot understand or be involved in "normal" society. other disorders, like synesthesia, change ones perception of the world around them.
