Distance = 10
Midpoint = (-1,5)
The distance is from the Pythagorean Theorem: (x1 - x2)^2 + (y1 - y2)^2 = distance^2 = (3 - (-5))^2 + (8 - 2)^2 = 8^2 + 6^2 = 64 + 36 = 100 = distance squared, so the distance equals the square root of 100 which is 10.
The midpoint is done by adding each coordinate, x1 + x2 and dividing by 2, then y1 + y2 and dividing by 2: (3 + -5)/2 and (8 + 2)/2 and so: -1 and 5 or: (-1,5).

set up a right triangle on the graph. that way you can use pythagorean theory. a^2 + b^2 = c^2
set the corner with aright angle at (3,2). thats where a straight vertical line down from point A meets a horizontal line from point B. call this point C
you must now find the distance from point A-C and Point B-C. this will make up the a and b of the equation. C is the distance.
with simple subtraction you can get A-C to be 6 and B-C to be 8
6^2 + 8^2 = C^2 >>>> 36+64 = square root of 100 = 10 that means the distance is 10! and thats your answer

the other two ppl r wrong listen to me i know this
ok so the x coordinate of A is 3 and the x coordinate of B is -5 so the distance between them is 8 right (thats basicly that boxes)
ok so the y coordinate of A is 8 and the y coordinate of B is 2 so the distance between those two are..... 6 right
so then u have a x coordinate that is 8 right (the first explination)
and then u have a y coordinate that is 6 right (the second expliation)
so then your midway point is (6,8) hope that didnt confuse you to much stick with it bc if u dont get this u r going to die in the 8th grade bc that is pre alebra right ...alegabre is like wow

distance = squareroot((8-2)squared)+(3-(-5))squared)
= squareroot(6squared + 8squared)
= squareroot(36 + 64)
= squareroot(100)
= 100
midpoint(x,y) = ((3+(-5))/2 , (8+2)/2) = (-1,5)

A = (x1, y1)
B = (x2, y2)
Midpoint M = (x, y)
Distance formula
D = sqrt((x1-x1)^2 + (y1-y2)^2)
Midpoint
(x, y) = ((x1+x2)/2, (y1+y2)/2)
sqrt means the square root. ex. sqrt(4) = 2
^2 means raised to the power of 2. ex. 2^2 = 4
I think you can do it from here?
