Try laying on your left side and drinking some water. Braxton Hicks contractions will usually slow down by doing that.

My opinion: Congratulations! Generally, Braxton Hicks contractions are more sporadic. Actual contractions will increase in intensity, frequency, and duration. Pain is very likely to radiate to the back and legs with real contractions. Go to the hospital if your contractions are 5-1-1: Five minutes apart, at least one minute in duration, for at least one hour.

Is this your first child. How far are you from the hospital? are you seeing you ob/gyn weekly? If this is your first child and you are seeing your DR weekly i would not rush off to the hospital yet. usually you will have certain signs. You will notice a pinkish discharge as your cervix thins, after this you should go into Real labor, Not that Braxton Hicks doesn't hurt but it is like practice for the real thing. Your pains should get regular when the get down to about 1 minute apart for an hour or so then you can head for the hospital. If your water breaks go then. you do not want to be in labor more than 24 hours after your water breaks. without delivery because of the chance of infection. Walking will help your discomfort and also strengthen your muscles. Back rubs are always a welcome relief. Congrats , don't despair soon you will have your bundle of Joy.

I was in pre term labor twice. The first at 31 weeks and the second at 36. I had a lot of Braxton Hicks and the last couple of months they did get worse. Your pain in your lower back is normal, sad to say, but so are the Painful Braxtons. If they get more constant and longer, I would go just to get checked out. It won't hurt and if you are going into labor they may stop it. I would want that baby to grow as much as possible and be healthy. Also if you stand up and walk when you have one, if it hurts worse when you walk, it is a real contraction. At least with my experience. Good luck!

Is this your first child? When I went into labor with my second I thought I was just having braxton hicks contractions until my lower back starting hurting very bad. by the time I left for the hospital my contractions were 3 minutes apart..but everyone is different, your dr. should have a 24 hour line to call and the dr on call will call you back, you can explain what you have typed here and they will be able to tell you if you should head to the hospital.....good luck and let us know what happens.

If you have any true concern you should call your doctor. Generally they get closer together and stronger as time goes on, if you take a warm bath, the real ones will not go away. They get to the point where it is very very difficult to walk and talk through them. If you have been resting try laying down, if you have been resting, try walking. Changing activity will not make the real ones go away. If you have any leaking of fluids or vaginal bleeding, call your doctor.

Nope, that's normal... 35w 4d pregnant here and mine are getting pretty strong too. When they start to come every 5 mins and don't stop for an hour... That's when you head to the hospital. If you're ever unsure though head down to your local maternity ward, they're sooo used to getting questions like this and they really don't mind checking you.

My doctor told me that if I am getting those more than 5 and hour every hour, and they are in a pattern, then to call and go to the hospital. Try timing them and counting to see if it is a pattern. Also, call you doctor to tell he or she about what has been going on. Bettter safe than sorry.

I had the same problem, my daughter is now 2 months old. Make an appointment with your doctor and ask about Brethine. That's what they gave me...
