Is he a good leader at 28 years of age?
No. He does not lead by example nor does he take control of the floor and direct his team. That's mainly due to the fact his first instinct is to score. There has been no maturing process at all.

How far do you think he can take the Lakers?
At best deep into a second round series. The west is loaded with talent that will over run the Lakers beyond that.

Was letting Shaq go instead of Kobe a mistake?
Yes, the Lakers went with the flashy youthful player and forgot all about who was really behind those championship trophies. Yes, Shaq is older now but he left the Lakers 3 years ago. Even the old Shaq was able to win another ring.

kobe is becoming a leader for the Lakers. He is currently the most experienced player in his team and is guiding everyone to play better as a team. Lakers will probably get to the West finals. Shaq was let go also as a reason because of his age and Kobe was chosen because of his age and talent. I think this had to be done to look into the Lakers' future.

Kobe is the most self centered ball player ever. He does not want anyone on that team getting more spot light than he does.
It's sad and pathetic and it's what keeping the Lakers from taking that next step. It's also what got rid of Shaq.

The town wasn't big enough for the both of their egos.

what? - You doubt if the Lakers would have made th playoffs with just Shaq. For your info. Shaq has not taken 1, not 2 ,but three guards to the promise land starting with Penny in Orlando, Kobe in LA, and D.Wdae in Miami. No Shaq, no rings. Has Kobe won a ring since Shaq left? NO!

He's tryin' to be the leader since last year's playoff. I think he's still learning the curve.
He could take the Lakers to the Western Finals depending on the seedings, but not the Finals.
I think it's a good move because Shaq is aging and demanding much more money for his extension, while it's also a good move for Miami Heat which needed an instant presence in the middle.

first off i hate the lakers but
kobe is STARTING to be a leader. hes passing up shots hed normally take and is trying to get everyone involved. i think the Lakers will do well in the playoffs but wont win the west. and no keeping kobe was the right move because shaq is old. and shaq only won a ring in miami because of a guy named dwyane wade and because its the freaking east where the competition isnt even close to the west. if shaq stayed in LA whos going to help him out? smush parker? luke walton? remember this is before odom got there. i doubt LA goes to playoffs with just shaq.

Kobe can't take the Lakers to the pinnacle alone, he has to have supporting players, letting Shag go was a mistake, but Lakers has no chioce due to the big daddy requested for it.

kobe is getting better at letting the other players do their thing. a good leader, hmmmmmm. that is debateable but i don't think he is the type that wants to be the leader. he wants to be a superstar!

we now have proof that he will never be a good leaader (he hasnt done anything without shaq), besides for being selfish and scoring 81 points. they need somebody around him like dwight howard who wont steal the spotlight but will help lead the team. letting shaq go was smart though cuz hes getting old and isnt worth keeping with his injuries.

my family is basketball fans, so i think that the way he is playing, he wont be able to take them as far as they would if shaq was with them.
