Is there an adapter that will let me:
-use the buttons on my iPod
-doesn't need an an FM radio station [there arent many available ones in Southern California]
-doesn't need a casette player [my car doesn't have one]

Actually, if you use some FM transmitters on a station and have the IPOD close to the radio, the Ipod will override the station.

Yes. There's plenty of choices out there for factory radios to aftermarket stereos. Choices from adapter cable to interfaces. I suggest you check out Crutchfield.com and find one that's compatible with your car stereo.
