I was twenty on September 11th. I was still on holiday from uni so was sitting down to watch 'Neighbours', a daytime soap, when the news announced there has been an incident in New York involving a plane smashing into the one of the Twin Towers and, at the time, the newscaster assumed it was an accident. That was just seconds before the second plane hit. Both my jaw and the jaw of the newscaster just dropped in shock. British newscasters are usually quite controlled but, understandably, this time he didn't know quite what to say.
On March 2003, I was twenty-two.
