You need to figure out the % decrease.

Step 1: First figure out how much the idle decreased.

Step 2: Then figure out what the percentage decrease is by dividing the value obtained in Step 1 by the idle speed before the tune-up and multiplying by 100.

first you have to find the actual decrease (2200 - 1600 = 600), so the decrease is 600 rpm. Now, you have to find what percent of 2200 is 600? set it up as a ratio>

600/ 2200 = x/ 100
cross multiply, 2200x = 60000
divide both sides by 2200
x = 27.2727 (repeating decimal, if rounded to the nearest tenth, the answer would be a decrease of 27.3 %

Percent decrease means "what percent did the number go down?"

2200 rpm - 1600 rpm = 600 rpm is the amount it decreased.

600 is what percent of 2200?
(rewrite in equation form)
600= n/100 x 2200
600 = n x 22
600/22 = n
27.3% = n

To find the answer to this question you

Take the difference between 2200 and 1600 (600), and divide it by 2200. This will give you the percent decrease between the two.

The answer is .27 repeating, or around 27% decrease.

You need to divide 1600 by 2200 and then move the decimal 2 place to the right....then you subtract from 100% and that should be the difference....please let me know if you still have problems

You would set up a ratio of 1600 over 2200 and make it equivalent to X(the answer that you are looking for) over 100 (for percent). Then you would cross multiply 1600 X100 =2200 X.
Divide 160000 by 2200 to get your percent..........but you have to do that! I can't tell you everything!

To calculate a percentage divide the smaller number by the larger number. 1600/2200=?

To find the % change you have to do 2200rpm minus 1600rpm which is 600rpm. Then you have to do 600 divide it by 2200 whic is a 27% decrease.

I think the teacher should work out or in other words teach the subject before they give home work on it, anyway subtract the smaller number from the bigger one then what ever remains divide by 100 and see what you come up with, good luck,

1.375% decrease i think. because 2200 divided by 1600 is 1.375.
1.375 times 1600 is 2200. i could be wrong. good luck! or it could be 3.6%, witch makes more sense. seaming how there is a 600rpm decrease the divide 2200 by 600 witch is the amount decreased. good luck.
