Crystallization occurs when molecules in solution precipitate. For example, snow is formed when the temperature falls to 32*F or lower (which is equivalent to 0*C). They form into their infamous snow flake arrangements because of the shape of the water molecule itself, which looks like a "V" - where O is at the point, and the H's are at the tips. If you could make snow flakes out of alcohol (straight carbon chains containing hydroxyl group), It would not look the same as if it where of water.
