I just want to know why. My WHOLE family except for me is racist. Almost everybody in my town is racist. And it's a very small town.

Children don't think about the negative stereotypes of different cultures on their own, they don't observe them either, they are too innocent to care and too busy having fun to make it matter...they can only learn this negative behavior from others.

One of the main reasons that people become racially ignorant is that they are groomed that way by their family. If a child, like you and I, grow up and think for themselves (rather than just follow the weak lead of the family tradition) they can be tolerant and loving of everyone! Wow, wouldn't that be great?

We really need to start thinking for ourselves and not let our hateful parents, grandparents or neighbors dissuade us from making peace in the world. We have enough hatred already, why pass more of that down to future generations. Look for ways to bridge the cultures and you can walk with one another over peaceful waters.....did I just make that up?

You might be the youngest member of your family so most likely you lack a lot of life's experiences that you'll have to cope with. Not all racism is taught within the family, school, or media but some people experience racism from their own personal encounters with other races and within those encounters the ones that stand out the most will be those which are the most violent, most emotionally disturbing, or the most morally disturbing. I came to America from a foreign country and though I have encountered racism from every race, it's really the frequency and level (from a violence perspective) that shapes my opinion. I think everyone should always be wary of any race that is different from their own (especially if they're in groups due to possible mob mentality). I also think it's smart to steer away from any group who seem to emulate the gang stereotypes as well. If it means you'll dodge more Blacks and Hispanics so be it, there is nothing wrong with being safe and wrong. Keep this in mind.

Why are people racist?

The question should be why you aren't. Apparently the people around you know a lot more than you do,

Because they are saddo's who think they are superior to others. I hate racisim. Its nasty. I feel sorry for you. I love different ppl, cultures, food, music etc. If we were all the same the world would be pretty boring. Even if they have had bad experience with certain ppl, doesnt mean they have to hate them all. Hate the person if you want.

Because I fear for my safety. Just go to any black neighborhood in the WORLD and you'll see why.
