New trucks would be toyota hands down. car and driver, motor week, road and track mags have all ranked the toyota trucks best values for the last 3-6 years. Great reliability, great handling, nice load pulling, great interiors.
The 2007 silvarado just won jd power award for best new truck at the detroit auto show.

I prefer Chevy myself but the FORD LIGHTNING is one awesome truck. Supercharged and beefed up in a lot of ways including a beefed up rear end with good gears and limited slip. They are fast and pull all the way up the rpms. But I wouldn't use it as a work truck just a driver with payload and towing capabilities

Toyota Tundra.
1. GM and Ford are suffering huge financial difficulties right now, and Chrysler (now DaimlerChrysler) is headed in the same direction.
2. Toyota trucks are reliable, cheap to insure and powerful.
