if a ball is being projected at an angle of 45 degrees, is there a number pattern in the amount of times a ball connects with the sides and the size of a table.

It would depend on where the ball was started from when you hit it with your cue. It would also depend on how much force was used to move it. So if you started from the rack mark and hit the ball somewhat hard at a 45 degree angle toward the open part of the table to the right side, it might hit as many 4 or more times against the table sides before being pocketed (if it does get into a pocket. If it's hit lightly, there might only be a one or two bump to it. It might not get pocketed. Remember that pool is a game of geometry and physics.
