I would just let it go. If the person knows they stink, then telling them isn't going to change anything.

If she is a good friend, take her in private, away from school or a social activity and just tell her. She may not have a family that feels comfortable talking about these things like you do. Be a good friend and explain it all to her, don't just say you smell and need to do this and that. Another thing to help break the ice on the subject is to tell her a personal experience that you have had, so she knows she is not the only person that experiences this problem.

Tell him or her, that you need to talk to them in private. From there tell them that you do not intend to hurt their feeling, but it would be best if they take care of themselves a little better. Specially about their body odor, tell them that it is not cool and they wouldn't be able to get a date or some jobs if they have problems with body odor.
And also tell them that the reason why you bring up the conversation is because you care and do not want them to become a mockery by other people. It's better that a friend told them this than an employer or some one they are dating with.

Ok, this is what you do! when that person walks over to you tighten your face in a real big frown. Every time he/she walks past you just keep frowning. Hopefully they'll asked what you keep frowning for and if that happens say, that perfume/cologne is pretty dag-on strong!!! That should be a great way to give 'em a hint that they smell! hope it works for ya. lol

Take the person aside, tell them privately that it's not your intention to hurt them, but they have body odor. Surely, the person will be embarrassed initially, but I'm sure they will ultimately appreciate your honesty.

You don't need to spare her feelings if it's a real problem. Tell him/her straight up. Tell her as a friend, though, not as a grouch

If you must, pose it as a one time, just discovered thing:
Oh...have you been to the gym? You might want to shower next time you go. Pheew.

Tell them you got a new body wash and it smells great and they should try it. You would like their opinion on it.
