the definition of a galaxy is a mass of stars orbiting a common centre of gravity. the milky way fills this criteria as it is a mass of stars, in orbit around a supermassive black hole.

not sure of your question, but a supermassive black whole holds it together with gravity in the center. Mostly the milky way would be composed of 90% dark matter, the rest would be stars, gasses, nebulae etc.
