I keep seeing on here, I don't like Afinogenov? What's with that? He's got amazing talent, and is really important to the Buffalo Sabres.

When Max was first with the Sabres, people considered him as a one-dimensional player, and a tad selfish with the puck, but since the "new" NHL has come out, Max has become such an amazing player. He does have defensive skill, and it's not his fault he draws a lot of penalties. He is just so fast that the only way the opposing team can stop him is to hook/trip/hold him. He has evolved into such a great player and I can't see why anyone would not like him.
GO SABRES!!

lol the quote was mine. I've been watching Max play since he first started playing in Buffalo, and in his first season or two he showboated, made stupid (and sometimes costly) mistakes, refusing to get his hands dirty in a fight, and was just a pain for Sabres fans to have to deal with watching cut his NHL teeth. He's gotten ten times better for sure, but he still reverts back to the idiotic mistakes once in a while. Plus, I'm sorry, but the way he tucks his jersey in makes him look like he should be playing hockey in the Special Olympics, not the NHL. He's also really ugly. I know he's one of the best players Buffalo has and I don't want them to get rid of him or anything, but I can't shake the initial bad impression he made. Strange, considering he's really good friends with my favorite Sabre, Martin Biron!

I watched him dive in the first period Jan 3 vs Ottawa and draw a penalty. The refs must have been on to him because he made another attempt in the third and the refs let it go.
He's loaded with talent but stuff like that makes people hate him.

Im a die hard Bruins fan and when we go to see them play buffalo I get excited to see him play plus hes got a great name

I'm on here when I'm at home and when I'm at work (don't tell anyone) but I've never seen anybody put Afinogenov down once maybe the Sabres fans yes but not the Sabres players.

Max has sick talent.... no question...however... it seems to be more one dimensionable... offense only. He also is often a selfish player preferring to go through the entire team by himself.. or do things himself. Also... he lacks the North American grit......strictly just a finesse player.
