As a retired mental health practitioner with 20+ years experience, I can tell you that there was / is a treatment modality called "Neuro-linguistic programming", if I am recalling correctly, wherein a therapist, or anyone for that matter, can say something that will trigger predictable emotional/behavioral replies in individuals, if I remember correctly. My problem with remembering it is that I didn't give it much credence when I first heard about it around 25 years ago, but your question adds further credence, beyond my seeing it evidenced in therapeutic settings, that the one-word cues can and do evoke predictable and measureable emotional, cognitive and behavioral responses from individuals. Thank you for your question. I should've been more "open-minded" or "accepting" as people like to say, to that particular therapeutic tool, but, I wasn't, and am now retired, so, I'll get over it. God Bless you.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

I guess its in the way you look at it. If these memories are bad, then you may be haunted by them. If you try and control your emotional response to them, you can gain some perspective by being able to travel back and think of these events and what led up to them and how they can be avoided in the future. Like a learning tool.

Probably your writing is doing you much good in dealing with these issues. Something is probably not resolved in your past.

Hope this helps

Happens to most of us if we are truly aware of our feelings.
With some people it is an aroma which will trigger memories.
Or a song, or a view of something from the past.
It is a gift if you put it to good use in your writing or just knowing that this is the past and it is done with. You can let it rest if you want to.

I say that you need to look at how you deal with those emotions and use them to put into your stories. This can be both good and bad. If you a able to write then it is a great gift.

I deal with the coming of emotions from my past as well, then I can deal with pieces of my past as they pop up.
Good luck on any books.

gift or curse? anything you get that can help you in anything is a gift, in some way.i can feel what people feel just by looking at their face and my mind automaticly puts itself in the situation the person is in, so its great for reading books, and just learn to live with it, if you become a writer, e-mail me :P

Maybe you have post-traumatic stress disorder. I feel like a slightly improved Google Search Engine -- you really didn't give a lot of information. see the link below to see if the other symptoms fit for you.

yeah it happens to me a lot. Mostly feelings of regret and of loneliness. The best thing to do is to move on. As far as I know this is normal in emotional and christian people.

We all have gifts and talents that we can put to good use. Consider this one of yours, and use it to its best advantage. Sometimes clouds do have silver linings.
