OK so I had an u/s today and I saw my baby's heartbeat! It was the best feeling in the world. I had a miscarriage in 2003 and that was how I found out, no heartbeat. It was so beautiful and the doctor said that my baby looked good and was measuring up to be 1.6 cm. I cry now thinking back on it. I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. So since everything went good and everything looked good, could I still have a miscarriage or could I consider myself in the clear? I am still kinda scared of a miscarriage. Thanks and please dont put me down, know body knows what it is like umless it has happened to them. thank you so much!

You have every right to be as worried as you need to be, so long as you don't stress also. I know it seems impossible. They say that 12wks is the magic cutoff number for miscarriages and once you reach that, you should be in the clear. Your not far off, so for now I would just try to relax as much as you can, eat right, and drink plenty of water. Like I said before, try not to stress too much, as that can cause problems with pregnancy. Also, don't hesitate to contact your doctor if you think something is strange or off with your body. They are there to help you and answer any questions that you might have. Good luck.

Anybody can miscarry a baby, and its a perfectly valid fear. It happens to millions of people, and nobody is really 'in the clear'. There are tons of other things that can happen to a child during gestation... you have to think that perhaps your miscarriage was for the best. The baby might have had a incurable or fatal disease, or your body might not have been able to handle the pregnancy at the time and could have been fatal.

The only thing you can do to prevent it is maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet. Watch out for drugs, chemicals, and additives that you ingest. Stay away from alcohol, tobacco, illicit and prescription drugs. Limit over the counter drug usage and be sure to consult your doctor before altering your diet & excercize regimines. Another important factor is stress...... the more you worry, the more stress you will subject the baby to. That isnt healthy... even emotional stress isn't healthy for the unborn child. Just relax and take care of yourself and things will turn out the way they are supposed to.

I was told the most critical time for a miscarriage is the first three months. So after 12 weeks your chances of that happening go down. Take it easy, eat well, and rest. Don't do anything to stress yourself out. Congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope you have a healthy happy baby.

It's always possible to miscarry, sadly.

However once you've seen the heartbeat and get passed 10 weeks, it's much much less likely. Most miscarriages happened before 10 weeks.

Congrats and Good Luck

You admitted you worry to much! Try not too, it's not good for you or the baby! Yes I was told the highest risk of miscarriage was during the first 12 weeks, take it slow and keep yourself busy! You should be doing great! Good luck!

23 weeks with my first!

I lost a twin with my 4 and a half month old son at 8 weeks. The docs say 12 weeks, dont worry too much just because you had one does not mean you will have another.Just be sure to take it easy, get your sleep and please try not to get stressed.Try to believe everything happens for a reason,my son was born without his pulminary valve,he has had 2 heart surgerys by the time he was 3 months and will have to have them for the rest of his life, his twin was probably much worse off which i believe happened for a reason.Best of luck to you and the health of you and your precious baby.Good Luck
