I saw tetra goldfish in the petstore. I forget what kind they were called but they had like a blue glowing stripe on their side and they were small. Does anyone know what kind they are called? and where i could get some information on them? are they freshwater or saltwater?

Sounds like neon tetras.

I sounds like it is a cardinal tetra or a neon tetra. They aren't goldfish and require a heated and filtered freshwater aquarium to survive, so you might want to do some research before buying one (they are also schooling fish so they do best in a group of six or more).

tetras are a tropical fish. The ones you are talking abobut sound like neon tetras. They are very common.

but goldfish are a cold water fish. please dont make the mistake of mixing the 2 (goldfish and tetras) because they will give each other bacterial infections and will kill off your entire tank.

the tetra family are a tropical freshwater fish. They should live in a school (group) of 3 or more. They like thier tank about 72 to 75 degrees. and they eat just regular tropical fish food flakes.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Neon tetras a fresh water fish. I just bought four of them last Saturday and two are already dead after being sucked by the filter.
