The fact that you're taking full responsibility of your financial matters is highly commendable.
Now's as good a time as any. Like they say, "the early bird catches the worm".
However, seriously... dude you're only like, what... 28?!
Life is short, enjoy your youth for what it is - REALLY. I'm not saying you should spend ALL of it just sensibly and in moderation.

At least 10K. At your age is not young anymore, you will be 30 plus soon! If you are thinking of setting up a family, better save some money. Coz, he is a guy and not a lady, a guy has to feed the family, moreover, no girl will want to follow a guy who have no saving and planning. As he live in a big city, a high cost living place.
If you are not planning of getting married, at least you can use money to invest in a business or so on. Remember! Time fly! Have to save some for....... don't know one day, you will need that sum of money?
No one will like a person spending life with borrowing cash (no cash)! Society change, cost living getting higher and higher!

Well Dude the fact that you are 28 yo and still overly concerned about the "jury of my peers" suggests that you really have a lot to learn. If you constantly compare yourself to other people you will never develop true self worth. A better question is : Am I satisfied with my savings RIGHT NOW. peace.

Like Daniel, I spend half on weekends as well, & dont have much of a savings account. I think the average 28 year old should have about RM25,000 although many of them dont. Im 25 years old by the way.

Agree with daniel

It range from nothing to RM1000. If you have 1000RM in your account, you're considered a filthy rich guy. If you've nothing in your saving, it's normal/average

It's below average when you're broke/can't pay debt

don't worry my friend, 28 is very young

500 RINGGIT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.

YES, 500 ONLY. NOT 5,000, BUT 500, DO YOU HEAR ME?

500 RINGGIT!!! DON'T SAVE TOO MUCH!!!

28 IS TOO YOUNG TO BE THINKING ABOUT THIS KIND OF STUFFS. YOU MUST BE ENJOYING YOUR YOUTH!

GO OUT, DRINK AND BE MERRY. YOU WON'T BE YOUNG FOR A LONG TIME. LIVE EACH DAY AT A TIME! SAVE ANOTHER TIME. JUST ENJOY YOURSELF FOR THE MOMENT!!!

YOURE MAKING ME MAD LAH!

Now give me the 10 points please!
