Both true, Blood travels thru: Arteries Veins, and Capallaries. Plasm is the main liquid part of the blood, it holds white cells(lukocytes), redd cells(eyrthrocytes), and other cells as well.

1. Yes, we do call them vessels, blood is pumped from the heart's right side, through the pulmonary artery, through the lung where it is oxygenated, to the pulmonary vein, to the left side of the heart. It is then pumped out of the left side of the heart into the aorta (a very large artery), where it is channeled into smaller arteries, and smaller arteries, then arterioles. The arterioles empty into tiny tiny capillaries which are within tissue, and are incredibly numerous. Blood from capillaries in tissue empties into vessels called venules, and the venules combine to form veins, which all empty into the large veins called the superior and inferior vena cava, which both empty into the right side of the heart. That is one complete cycle of blood.

2. Blood is made up of many cell types floating in plasma. The oxygen carrying component of blood is the red colored component, which contains erythrocytes (red blood cells). The measurement of the total % of blood this layer occupies is called the "hematocrit". The next layer is the thin layer of white blood cells we call the "buffy coat". This layer contains all of your immune system cells (called leukocytes) and platelets. The last layer is the plasma, and this is what contains all of the dissolved components (proteins, electrolytes) of blood and the fluid that carries the blood.
