Yes they should but no they won't. The fact that there were so many 1 loss teams this year in the top 25 and the only two left were Ohio State and Boise State-- and they didn't give Boise State a shot at the title---we also have Notre Dame in a BCS bowl game every year as long as they are in the top 8 even know they havn't won a BCS bowl game in 15 years. They won't do playoffs however because of money. Coorperate sponsers are what host bowl games which is why there are so many-- playoffs in sponsers out. It's all politics.

Yes I believe it should have a playoff for the top 8 teams or maybe even 12 with the other teams that were left out going to the bowl games as a sort of second prize however i don't see this happening in my life time because the ncaa is all about money and the bowl games right now generate too much of it

Umm...a playoff system will generate just as much controversy as the bowl games have. There were 25 one loss teams this season? Ok, if there are only 8 teams to go and this year two were undefeated in Ohio State and Boise State, that leaves 6 out of 25 teams able to go. Wait, what happens if your team doesn't make it in there. Yeah its too tough to choose that type of system. Can't have winner of every conference go, because we all know the winner of the WAC, MAC, or Conference USA would not really be able to compete with the likes of the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big Twelve, and Pac-10. Lets not forget the involvment of Notre Dame and the independent schools. If you go beyond an 8 team playoff system it becomes too long of a season and too much on the student athletes themselves. Money will be lost in this transition, and the bowl games that we love and know will no longer be there. Rose Bowl tradition will no longer have its "grandaddy of them all" title. Playoffs would be nice, but it is in no way able to be done with such a tremendous impact on profit, history, and the student-athletes themselves.

Yes, a playoff would be better. But unfortunately Big-10 commissioner, Jim Delany, stands in the way, and he doesn't seem like the type of guy who is going to back down for anybody:
