.now we're deciding to try and reinforce it a little to make it stronger.its got an awesome exhaust on it.its a 2.2 liter but it sounds like a small v8.where are some of the weak points on this car that would need reinforced for small impact like bumpin trees.and the floor pan and frame.where are the weakpoints on the fram and floor pan.we only bought it for 100 dollars so if we destroy it we can haul it down the road a couple of miles to the junkyard and get 120 for it.anyways does anyone know of how to reinforce it a little for a woods car?any help will be great.thanks.

best way is weld a makeshift strut bar, and i also highly suggest welding in a sheet metal (thicker the better) floor pan under the car to keep you from hanging on a rock/stump and ripping half the drivetrain off.

Look on the subaru forums in the "For Sale" sections for used differential covers/protectors. Also, look for something to shield the oil pan, which is on the bottom of the short block, exposed.

If you're going off roading, they are the most critical for driving, the most expensive to replace, and the most likely to be damaged.

You can also get them new from Subaru (www.subaruparts.com) or have someone you know weld one together on the cheap (bolt holes are there, so someone with a lift should be able to fab one up if they know what they're doing with metal work)

The 2.2 ltre engine is worth more than $100. Some people use it for small airplane engines. You could probably turn around and sell it for $500.

it's made to take it since the beginning....go for it....fix as you need to...don't worry about it.
