Why do Football players wear those tight bands around their arms?

When ever I watch Football I see them wearing those things and wonder why they wear them? Not the QB's arm band with the plays but the small string like ones that WR's wear

ok its to prevent there muscles from stretching

It keeps your sweat from moving going down your arms and onto there hands and making them more slippery
