I think many misunderstood my previous question. Are there any paralegals in the Riverside, Califorinia area who would be willing to prepare and file my documents, and serve them as well? I just want to be sure they are prepared properly, and that they are served properly. Thanks!!!

Someone using the title paralegal in California must, by law, be working for an attorney and not performing services for non-lawyers.

I believe what you need to look for is a "legal document assistant." LDAs are authorized to provide services to non-lawyers and there are requirements, with which I'm not entirely familiar, they must meet, including a bond to ensure they are operating properly.

Good luck.

If you and your soon-to-be-ex agree about the distribution of your property, hire a mediating attorney to fill out the papers for you, and file in Riverside County. Cost is generally $75-300, and they take care of everything. Look in the yellow pages under attorney -- divorce -- mediating. You both use the same attorney.. If you get into an adversarial position of your attorney against his attorney, they get it all (about $6000 each) and you two end up with nothing. Only way to get a divorce is with decorum and being civil..... cat fights end up costing you a ton. Good luck, hon

All paralegals aren't created equal but then neither are lawyers.

Keep an eye on things and hope for the best.
