The sound of a first bird singing in the earliest recesses of morning, a harbinger of a new day, the first to sing and first to inform that it is over. It is so pleasant to know something for sure first in the morning, and to know it from a bird, that the nightly toil of the earth is over, and a new dawn is about to break upon the big wide yonder warped in misty darkness still. It is also pleasant because the sound is not a shrill; it is light and chirpy, not incessant or loud, but delightful, communicating to human spirit, as if they were one, and the same species.
