I have a friend who's on welfare, but it's dissappointing his wife. How can he give the money back to the taxpayers? He's a victim of cancer.

All he has to do is not apply, and he will not receive it. If he qualifies, he must be pretty badly off, so he should not worry about returning what he has received.

Well, if your friends a victim of cancer welfare should be covering all his medical cost which is a good thing, i don't see why this dissapoints his wife, a cancer patient can't really work so getting a job won't help payback to the taxpayer's what i would suggest is that there are may home jobs that he can do on the computer, make a lot of money and send it directly to IRS. good luck.

I don't know why it should disappoint his wife. If he is incapable of working he needs money to survive on. Is he eligible for Medicare/Medicaid or any other form assistance? Is his wife able to work? Perhaps he should contact the American Cancer Society for help. Also, a donation to the American Cancer Society or Gilda's Club would be a great way to "give back" to the tax payers. I hope your friend is doing well.

I would think that she should be glad that they are being taken care of at this point. If she is the one who needs to take of the family then she needs to go to work and to return the money or to return the money after he is gone for it is evident that he cannot work for they are on welfare and he has an illness that is making it difficult for him to be working. Perhaps he can work from home if he has certain skills there are always things one can do to bring in extra cash such as computers and stuffing envelopes--depending upon how bad off he is..Maybe going back to school for her to learn new skills if that is what is worrying her..etc for it seems to that she may be the one who will be the main bread winner..

If he needs it, his wife should be understanding. If the cancer or the therapy to combat it makes him incapable of work, how is supposed to pay bills? and buy food? Cancer meds aren't cheap either, even if you only have to do the co pays. Now, if his cancer is managable (I have been fighting metastatic RCC for 6 years now and I still work) and he just takes welfare because it's easier, then he needs better self esteem.

If he's sick his wife should be grateful for the help, rather than disappointed. She doesn't sound very supportive.

If it disappoints his wife, she can pay for him. Tell her to cough it up or shut it up.
